The Congregation of Prairie Street Mennonite Church is composed of many different, friendly people who enjoy worshiping together, good music and monthly potlucks. Many are involved in the local community and with local Mennonite organizations. The church itself, has been at the same address on Prairie Street since 1871. Prairie Street is a member of Mennonite Church USA and Indiana-Michigan Mennonite Conference.
Transitional Ministry Team As of July 2009, following the departure of Andrew Kreider as Pastor, a transitional ministry team is in place:
- Eleanor Kreider, Ministry Coordinator
- Anne Mitchell, Pastoral Care Coordinator
- Art Stoltzfus, Community Networker
- Gene Lackore, Funeral Coordinator
- Becky Miller and Eleanor Kreider, Ministers of Hospitality
- Marie Troyer, Administrative Assistant/Bookkeeper
These people are serving with the Elders as the church is clarifying the vision for mission and ministry here in south central Elkhart. There is good energy and hopefulness as we go through this important transitional period.
